About Us

Paramoor Winery was established in 2003 with the planting of the first stage of its small estate vineyard ( pinot noir and pinot gris). Premium quality grapes are also sourced from several supplying vineyards elsewhere in the Macedon Ranges and in Heathcote and the Goulburn Valley. Winemaker , Dr Will Fraser has a PhD in chemistry from the University of Adelade and a Diploma of Wine Technology from the University of Melbourne. Will's wife Kathy manages the cellar door and accommodation aspects of this small family business and takes great pride in the provision of friendly, first class hospitality.

The beautifully located 43 acre property has a rich history as a working Clydesdale horse farm and retains its early nineteenth century ambience. Two magnificent Clydesdales are still present, as is a full range of  horse drawn farm equipment. The iconic Paramoor Barn provides an amazing space for a year round program of musical concerts(ranging from folk music  to opera), plays and other events-- as well as for Paramoor's attractive Bed and Breakfast facilities, which are tucked into one corner.

Featured Wines

  • The 2006 "Joan Picton" Pinot Noir is a rich , complex wine which drinks superbly well now and which has enormous future potential. Dark cherries,plums and hints of strawberries dominate both the aromas and palate of this world class wine.
  • The 2007 Paramoor Botrytis Riesling is believed to be the first such wine ever made from Macedon Ranges fruit. Delicate apples , pears and citrus flavours linger on the palate , and there is great balance between acidity and sweetness. This is no ordinary "sticky".
