More information... Chanters Ridge is a family owned boutique vineyard at 440 Chanters Lane, Tylden - 12 Kms west of Woodend - 2kms south from the corner of Chanters Lane and the Woodend-Daylesford Road. We produce Pinot Noir wines only, made by John Ellis and his team under contract. Primary fermentation is in open tanks using approximately 30% whole bunches. Maturation is then undertaken for 15-18 months in oak, the barrels a combination of 20% new and older oak. Malolactic secondary fermentation takes place prior to bottling. The sparkling wines are bottle fermented and aged on lees for at least 2-3 years prior to disgorging. The still wines wine will improve and develop more flavours over 4-5 years. All our wines have distinctive varietal nose, berry, plum and herbal flavours. We cellar our wines for some time before release, ready for our customers to enjoy immediately, or lay down for further improvement. Since our first vintage in 2000 all our wines so far released have won medals including a trophy for the best Pinot Noir at the MRVA Wine Exhibition in 2005 for our 2003 Back Paddock. During Budburst 2010 our range will be available for tasting and sales. Our two acre garden will be open for visitors to stroll through while enjoying the beautiful views of Mt Macedon, the Cobaws and surrounding countryside.
