More information...
Hanging Rock Winery was established in 1983 and is located in Australia’s coolest grape growing region- the Macedon Ranges just one hour’s drive from Melbourne. In 1982, with a wealth of knowledge behind them, John and Ann Ellis decided to purchase a block of land to fulfil their ambition of building their own winery. The bare block chosen, known, as ‘Jim Jim’ was ideal – ultra cool climate, south facing with decomposing basalt soil – a perfect site for realising their dream of producing Australia’s finest sparkling wine. Whilst they decided to build in the Macedon Ranges, they have always had a love and affiliation with Heathcote as a Shiraz growing region. In 1992 they and Athol Guy (of ‘Seekers’ fame) planted the ‘Athol’s Paddock’ Vineyard to produce the highly acclaimed ‘Heathcote Shiraz’. Today Hanging Rock Winery is the largest winery in the Macedon Ranges and boasts an extensive range of wines that showcase some of the best regions of Victoria. The goal has always been to select premium grapes from areas of Victoria best suited to a particular variety. Budburst at Hanging Rock has always been a great affair. Regardless of the weather you will find a great atmosphere, food, music and of course, wine. Contact Details
