Established since the mid 1980's, Lanes End continues to produce wines that have complexity, lusciousness and are made to be enjoyed with food. They continue to rate very highly with wine reviewers (Wine Companion 2012) as well as at various wine shows. Budburst Festival Details:
More information... Lanes End vineyard was planted in 1985-6 on the southern slope of Mt William on the Great Dividing Range. Here at 580 metres above sea level, the climate is perfect for the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grape varieties. Cool climate wines need an extended growing period with the month before picking having temperate days and cool nights. This allows greater complexity to build up which will show in the wines produced. Howard Matthews and Nicki Ralph purchased Lanes End in 2000 and have strived to produce wines of elegance and purity. The use of “wild yeasts” in the fermentation process leads to increased complexity as well as a more luscious mouth feel. “ Immaculate texture, line and length” is James Halliday reviewed our Pinot Noir. Our barrel fermented Chardonnays have always exemplified elegance, restraint and poise. Previous winner of both the People’s Choice and Judges ‘Best wine of Show’ at the Macedon Ranges Wine Exhibition. Contact Details
