Our vineyard produces premium wine grapes which are crafted into award winning wines by local winemakers. Chardonnay was planted first in 1993 and Pinot Noir in 2000. The vineyard site has proven itself ideally suited for the growing of Gewürztraminer which was included in the first Chardonnay plantings by a happy accident. The grapes produce a delightfully aromatic wine with spicy overtones. Budburst Festival Details:
More information... Midhill at Romsey has 6.5 acres of vines. The soils are well drained, acidic and of volcanic origin. The vineyard faces North East and captures the early morning sun. It overlooks the picturesque valley of 5 Mile Creek (Romsey Creek). Our viticultural practices embrace the concept of sustainability alongside our aim to produce premium grapes. In our attempts to reduce the use of chemicals in the vineyard and enhance soil health, weeds and grass are managed by cattle and sheep grazing when vines are dormant, and mowing during the rest of the year. The Chardonnay and Pinot Noir have a great natural balance of fruit flavours and acidity. Our flagship wine, Sparkling MACEDON Blanc de Blancs is kept three years on lees before release and is a delightful, dry citrus style with creamy yeast overtones. At the 2010 Daylesford Wine Show, our Gewurztraminer 2010 won a Gold Medal and Trophies for “Best White wine other than Chardonnay”, and for the Best White Wine. At budburst hand crafted barrel furniture made at Midhill is also available for sale. Contact Details
