About UsForty-Acre Wines, located in Woodend, Victoria, in the shadow of Mount Macedon, is blessed by native birds, kangaroos and scenic views. The cool climate of the Macedon Ranges produces some of the best cool climate wines in Australia, equaling those of New Zealand and Burgundy, France. Forty-Acre Wines’ simple philosophy is to make quality handcrafted wines with minimal intervention. This is achieved by only using the best quality grapes available from the region.
Rod Drysdale – Wine Maker After completing wine studies at BRIT under the respected winemaker Mal Stewart, Rod became a part-time apprentice at Big Shed Wines in central Victoria, under the tutelage of Dr Ken Jones, renowned Professor of Biotechnology & Genetics, previously from Edinburgh University. Having established Forty-Acre Wines, Rod now makes quality handcrafted wine in his own right, using grapes sourced mainly from the Macedon Ranges.
