Located on the famous Burke and Wills Track, the farm has many signs of its long history including amazing old stone fences. Being at the northern end of the region our slightly warmer summers enable us to grow wonderful peppery, cool climate shiraz.

Each year Budburst at Rowanston on the Track invites several small local wineries to create a larger wine experience for Budburst visitors. This year, as well as Rowanston on the Track, the event will include, Burke and Wills, Metcalfe Valley and Forty Acres wineries, who will all be showcasing their wines. The availability of fine wines, a light lunch, and live music along with panoramic views across the McCarg ranges create a wonderful Budburst experience in these lovely old farm gardens.

Rowanston on the Track is located on the northern the foothills of the Macedon Ranges on the Burke and Wills track between Lancefield and Heathcote. This boutique vineyard produces fine Shiraz, Riesling, Merlot, Sparkling Shiraz and sparkling white Blanc de Noir.

First plantings occurred in 1995. The heavy red soils hold moisture and volcanic outcrops develop white peppery characteristic in the red wines, whilst the cool nights and slow ripening period enable rich full fruit flavors to develop in all the fruit. The vineyard is part of a very old family farm and many of the original stone fences still remain. Grapes are handpicked and made into wine using traditional techniques on the property. Rowanston on the Track Riesling has won several awards at wine shows and all wines from this property have been recognized by awards.
