About Us
Cobaw Ridge Established 1981. By Alan and Nelly Cooper. Vines Planted 1985 in granitic sandy soil on the warmer, northern slopes, on the cusp of the divide. 610 mtrs. above sea level, positioned in a natural amphitheatre backing on to the Cobaw State Forest, 15 min east of Kyneton.1 hrs. Drive from Melbourne, up the Calder Freeway in the pristine Heart of the Macedon Ranges. Wines Produced are of individual character and style. All 100% estate grown made and bottled. Showing full flavours which richly reflect our special vineyard site.
As of season 2007, we have embarked on the process of full certified registration of organic status with NASAA. All aimed at enhancing the purity of our wines. Producers of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Shiraz / Viognier and the first commercial producers of Lagrein in Australia. Committed to quality, vines are hand picked hand pruned, hand tended, wines made with passion and crafted with care.

- Budburst annual Macedon Ranges Wine Festival (November): which bursts into life to honour the beginning of a new grape growing season. A time to sample the excellence of the region's local wines ... and food… is a special occasion to join Alan and Nelly in the vineyard as a part of the festival.

Featured Wines
- Cobaw Ridge Shiraz/Viognier: Our evolving of this now so cool blend. Inspired by the great single vineyard wines of the Northern Rhone Valley. Shiraz for the earth and spice, Viognier for the fragrance and lift. All coming together under a cloak of fine French oak. Cellar for 5-8 years.
- Cobaw Ridge Lagrein: Native to the high gravel hills of the far north east of Italy. Lagrein makes a powerful dark intricate, dry red wine, filled with flavour of dark red cherries, with a savoury edge. Together with crisp acidity and a non conventional tannin balance.
